Quality Time with God
Introduction: We lead busy lives. What is more important than finding and/or making time in our busy life for God? It is tragic when Christians place little emphasis on dining on the spiritual feast that is the word of God! We must be in tune with God! See these scriptures: Psa. 1:1-2; 63:6-8; 77:11-13; 143:5-6; 119:9-16. These scriptures speak of a person who hungers for God. In NT we have words of Jesus – Mt. 5:6 Righteous people have an appetite for righteousness. (Psa 143:6b) Everything that God wants to happen in our lives begins by learning! We can succeed in our bible Study! We must spend quality time with God. Let’s look at the Bereans – Acts 17:11-12
I. Quality time with God involves keeping an __________ __________. A. The Bereans received the word 1. They listened without ____________ and without __________. 2. Good listeners always compliment the gospel. a. Matt. 13:14-15 B. They received the word with all _________________ of mind. 1. Such is absolutely vital to righteousness. 2 Cor. 8:12 2. Such is the honest and good heart of Luke 8:15 3. John 7:17 - such a heart exists before knowing the truth. II. Quality time with God involves keeping an ___________ __________. A. The Bereans examined the scriptures (i.e. Old Testament Scriptures.) 1. They recognized the Scriptures as being _________________. 2. They recognized the need to ________ all things. ! Thess. 5:21 3. They were not satisfied to take just the word of the preacher. B. to see whether these things were so. 1. Any teaching that did not harmonize with Scripture is unworthy of ____________________. 2. This is vital in our confused religious world of today. a. Are these things so? Examine the Scriptures. III. Quality time with God means we must keep an _______ ______________. A.
