A Time for Revival Introduction: Our Fall gospel meeting begins on Friday. This weekend will provide us w/great opportunities to encourage each other. We can strengthen our faith; stimulate one another to greater service; and…REACH the LOST! Throughout the last decade – calls have come from some to do away w/gospel meetings all together. Usually ineffectiveness and dwindling attendance are cited as reasons to do away with them. Go on record saying – gospel meetings are a good thing and can be a good tool congregations can use in areas of: edification and evangelism. There’s no doubt the positives outweigh the negative! Here’s how: I. It’s a great _____________________ to reach the __________. Must learn once again to be focused upon the ______ ____________. Mt. 28:18-20. What was the __________ of Jesus? Lk. 19:9-10? There is _____________ in sound gospel preaching today! Romans 1:16 a. 1 Cor. 3:5-6 – we plant; _________ gives the growth! II. it’s a great opportunity for __________________. Nothing wrong w/revival! 1. Some scared to use the term "revival" for fear that we’ll sound denominational. 2. If God wants sleepers aroused; sluggards energized; discouraged encouraged; the battle weary heartened; we must do it! This is a time to revive our _______ ________. 3. Rev. 2:4-5 – Ephesian were faithful in doctrine – but lacking in _______. 4. Seemed to be fighting a defensive battle – guarding truth against error. It’s a time to revive our ______________ concerns. 5. Spirit of our age is more concerned w/"practical" than "doctrinal." a) Must avoid ______________ with either. 6. "practical" is the ______________ of "doctrine." We can revive our moral ____________________. 7. Life of Jesus – we’re looking at the very essence of morality! 8. Thyatira – Rev. 2:20 – church that tolerated immorality. Was condemned. We can revive our _________________. 9. Gal. 6:9 - How many of us have been tempted to "quit in mid-stream?" 10. Saris appeared alive – but was dead. Did not see to be able to finish things. a) Rev. 3:1-3 Yes…a meeting can be a revival! 11. If it is time for a revival in your life – use this meeting as an opportunity to jumpstart your spiritual life! 12. Make plans to be here at each service!
