Signs of New Birth

Introduction:
    Christians have been born again. After being baptized, we sometimes think that our lives will be instantly turned around—and be altogether different and new. But then….reality sets in. We spend our daily lives battling sin; temptation; the devil; and working on being more motivated to serve the Lord. If we’re not careful we can begin to doubt our salvation and our spiritual life as a whole suffers. Tonight’s lesson will discuss six identifying marks of a Christian. Let us strive to have these marks in our lives:

I. _____________ in Jesus—1 Jhn. 5:1
   
A. This is the person who commits himself in trust to Jesus for salvation.
    B. This is the person who can clearly see the __________________ of his sin!
        1. May still have doubts & fears!
        2. But still making a concentrated effort to _________ Him!

II. Practicing ________________ - 1 Jhn. 2:29
   
A. We must do what God’s word has shown to be ______________!
        1. Use the example of ____________ to follow—Heb. 12:1-2
    B. Realize that we will fight daily with sin. You’re not alone! We will stumble….
        1. But we have hope by looking to God—1 Cor. 10:13

III. ______________ other Christians—1 Jhn. 3:14
