Blessed are They that Mourn

Introduction:
   
One thing the world agrees upon is the need to shun mourning. Most have the idea that one must drown all his sorrows; don’t face reality; be as happy as you can and steer clear of trouble. The largest industries in America today are those who specialize in helping people have fun and forgetting about their worries. (Disney; Las Vegas; etc.) This stands in stark contrast with Mt. 5:4. The meaning here is spiritual in nature. He is not talking about natural mourning—like that suffered during the loss of a loved one. What exactly, is Jesus referring to here?

I. This beatitude as exemplified in the life of Jesus:
   
A. There is no record that Jesus ever ______________.
