Blessed are the Poor in Spirit
Introduction:
In this series of lessons beginning today we will discuss how to become divinely happy! Happiness is the great question confronting mankind. Everyone wants to be happy—but some seek happiness in the world—only to come up shorthanded and miserable. Isn’t that part of the deceitfulness of sin? All Christians must work on possessing the qualities found within the beatitudes. While developing some qualities may be easy for us—others will take much work. The beatitudes demonstrate the utter difference between Christian and non-Christian conduct. See 1 Pet. 2:5-9; 11-12; Col. 1:13; Phil. 3:20. Let’s examine the contents of 5:3.
I. What is Jesus talking about here?
