Standing On Our Convictions

Introduction:
What do you think of those who are willing to stand up for what is right? I think often of Christians who have stood up with conviction in battles over issues within the Lord’s church. There have always been a small minority of God’s people who have been willing to stand up—no matter what! The cost of losing favor with God is simply too much despite "suffering" a little here on the earth. There are several examples in the Scriptures where godly people stood up on their convictions. One such example is Daniel. Are we willing to stand up on our convictions—no matter what?

I. Daniel’s convictions were based upon ____________ _____________.

        1. Ex. 20:3—God specifically forbid idolatry.

        3. Deut. 14:3—not to eat any _______________ thing.
    B. Their objections caused them to politely refuse that which would have recognized another _______.
    C. Our convictions today must be based upon God’s word!
        1. Can sin _______. Do what necessary to eliminate it from our lives!

        1. Don’t be rude! Adversely affects non Christians!

        1. 3:14-18—Shadrach; Meshac; Abendego—faced the _________.
        2. Don’t think that Daniel’s ____________ didn’t play a role in strengthening them!

III. Daniel ______________ from his stance with God.

A. 1:9—gained ______________/________________ in the sight of his commander.
    B. 1:17—they gained _____________ _____________.
    C. We too can benefit by serving God faithfully—standing on our convictions.
        1. Reputation.
        2. Wisdom/common sense.

     3. Gain is not always in $$$$ !!!!!!
