How to Change Your LifeIntroduction: Jesus died – not so that we could live for ourselves – but for Him & through Him! We have become a new creation in Christ. All things are new – old has passed away. Remember excitement when you first became a Christian? Maybe you have been Christian for sometime – but are not satisfied with your Christian life. Maybe you feel more transformation is necessary. Perhaps you are not a Christian. You know that changes need to be made in your life. Today’s lesson will help you understand the importance of turning your life over to Christ. I. Approach Your Christianity With Passion! A. Passionate = a powerful emotion or appetite; ardent adoring love; great enthusiasm for a certain activity; subject, etc. 1. Synonyms: passion, ardor, enthusiasm, fervor, fire, zeal B Where does Jesus fit in? 1. Are we passionate in getting life changing truth? C. We must make sure to take our physical/mental intensity to the next level! We’re not here to go through the motions! II. Raise Your Personal Expectation! A. Expect the best! 1. Demand a higher standard for yourself. 2. Expect to succeed! B. Look to excel in your Christianity! See 1 Thess. 4:1, 9-10. 1. Eccl. 9:10 – do it w/all your might! C. Never justified to slack off - Phil. 3:13-15; 4:13-15 III. Harness the Power of Faith! A. God given each person the ability to be all that he can be! 1. Phil. 4:13. Two words, “I can!” Not, “I can’t,” or “I don’t know.” B. Jhn. 5:1-8 – here’s an example of someone limiting themselves. 1. Must change our thinking to one of faith in Christ. IV. Model Successful Godly Behavior. A. Success leaves footprints. Christians look to Jesus – Heb. 12:1-3 B. Look to brethren – 1 Thess. 5:11 V. Decide to succeed at all costs! A. We must be planning out our spiritual lives & taking advantage of opportunities when they arise! B. Successful people do not quit just b/c they make mistakes! 1. Keep on trying. Time after time. Mt. 26:75 – Peter 2. Later b/c one of greatest gospel preachers ever! An apostle who had tremendous impact on others. C. Do the best you can – let it rip – start making decisions. 1. There isn’t anything you can’t foul up that we can’t fix. Conclusion: A. Too many Christians suffer from paralysis of analysis. B. Be clean on the goals you would like to accomplish - & prayerfully commit yourself to them! Lk. 10:2 |
