The Fact of Christ's Resurrection
Text: Rom.
1:1-6
Introduction
At the
very core of the Christian religion is the belief in the resurrection of Jesus
Christ from the dead following His death on the cross. Everything hinges upon
the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Why were Christians so determined
to spread the gospel in spite of constant persecution? Because of their belief
in Christ’s resurrection. Memorials have been placed both in the physical
realm and in the spiritual realm testifying of the fact that Christ resurrected
from the dead. What are they?
I. The church
of Christ.
A. Mt. 16:13-18 – Christ promised to build His church and it came into
existence following His death – Acts 2:47
1. Acts 4:11-12 – Christ the
chief cornerstone of the church.
2. Eph. 1:19-23 – Church the body of Jesus
Christ.
B. Must become a part of His church in order to be saved.

Testament.

we are sanctified.

resurrection of Christ & our obedience.

Bible upon resurrection.

1. Acts 2:42 – first century
Christians observed the Lord’s Supper
2. 1 Cor. 11:26 – Christians
to proclaim His death until He returns.
B. If Christ wasn’t resurrected, why partake of the
Lord’s Supper?
IV. Baptism
into Christ Jesus.
A. Acts of baptism symbolizes what happened to Christ – Rom. 6:3-6
1. Baptism the spiritual act which
washes away sin.
2. Notice further symbolism in Col.

through Jesus.

baptism So should we!
V. Martyrdom
of Saints.
A. Testimony both within/without Bible of persecution of first century
Christians.
1. Stephan – Acts 7:57-60;
James – Acts 12:1-2
2. Their belief strong enough to
endure anything. Are we as dedicated?
B. 1 Cor. 15:29-32 – if no resurrection, why did Paul
risk his life everyday?
1. Certainly the martyrdom of the
saints proves the resurrection of Jesus!
