The Need for Personal Work

Text: Luke 10:1-2; 19:10; Heb. 5:12
Introduction:

The church has many capable workers in “the huddle” but is in desperate need of personal workers in “the field.” The church is in dire need to get back to it's original mission - seek and save the lost. Jesus Christ has laid the responsibility of spreading the gospel at the feet of individual Christians! Christ cannot get His work done unless we work ourselves! He has trusted us to teach the lost!

I.  We need a genuine concern for the lost.
               A. Rom. 9:1-3 - not Paul's concern for the lost.
                               1. The lost are all around us!  The need is great!
                               2. Jude 22; Mt. 7:12
               B.  By the end of the 1st century, the gospel had been carried all over the known world.
                               1. Lord's plan multiplicative in nature.
                               2. The need is felt all over the world!  Mt. 13:38; Jhn. 4:35-38
II.  Reasons we need to be personal workers.
               A. Because the Lord commanded it & for self-preservation.
                               1. Mt. 28:18-20; 1 Pet. 2:8; Jhn. 15:16; Lk. 13:6-9
                               2. Noah preached 120 yrs. - no results.  Would God have been pleased had he quit?
               B. Because of our love for others & the value of a soul.
                               1. Jas. 5:20; Rom. 1:16; 1 Pet. 1:18-20
                               2. We must stop and consider the lost!
               C. Because we need to follow the early church & the terror of the Lord.
                               1. Acts 8:4; 26:20; 2 Cor. 5:9-11; Mk. 16:15-16
                               2.  Heb. 10:31 - It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Lord!
               D.  Because we are a debtor to the Lord & because of the joy it brings!
                               1.  Rom. 1:14-17; 2 Cor. 5:14-15; Lk. 15:7; Phil. 4:1
                               2.  We must have a vision!
III.  We must fulfill the need or the church will suffer!
               A. The lifeblood of our congregation is its teaching program!
                               1.  Must not be apathetic.
                               2.  Without personal workers the church will stagnate and die
               B. What have you been doing for the Lord?  1 Cor. 11:1
               C.  Objections answered.
Are you ready to go to work for the Lord?
